- Social Media Detox Meditation...
Session 10/10
Transcript
Welcome to Day 10 and congratulations for making it here.
I hope by now you are starting to form a new perspective on social media and become more aware of how to use it and how not to use it!
By filling in the quiet spaces or gaps in the day with social media we can really miss out on taking time for self reflection. Missing out on those moments can be damaging to our well being. The quiet moments in the day are super important! We all need time to reflect on who we are, what we think, or why we act and behave the way we do. It is these moments of self reflection that allows you to grow as a person.
Sitting comfortably for this.
Settling into this space.
Taking a few rounds of deep breaths.
Breathing in through the nose.
Breathing out through the mouth.
Allowing the mind to relax.
Allowing the body to soften.
Allowing your breath to return to its natural flow.
Setting your intention for your practice today.
Becoming aware of the body in contact with the surface beneath you.
Feeling the support beneath you.
Noticing the sounds around you.
Come back to the body as you start to scan though the body.
Scanning all the way down to your toes.
Notice how the body feels.
Notice how the mind feels.
Tuning in to the breath.
Becoming more aware of the rise and the fall of the breath.
Observing the inhalation breath.
Observing the exhalation breath.
Then when you notice your mind has wandered and it’s become distracted, gently noting whether it’s a thought or a feeling, maybe a sensation or an emotion.
Gently labeling it thought, or labeling it feeling.
No need to follow the thought or the feeling.
No need to attach to it or try to resist it.
Simply noting it.
Letting it go.
Coming back to the breath, gently.
In these spaces of quietness, noticing what comes up for you.
With an open and curious mind.
Sitting in stillness.
Gently noting “thinking”.
Gently noting “feeling”.
There’s no right or wrong answer.
Continuing for a few more rounds of breath.
Letting go of focus now.
Let your mind think, let it wander, let it question, letting it do what it needs to do.
Feeling your body connecting with the surface beneath you.
Pause for a moment, noticing how you feel different after your practice.
Taking time to learn to listen to the mind; to be open and curious and by engaging in this practice find that space and freedom, not just in the mind but also in the body. Getting a new perspective on things and all the while, understanding it’s about the journey not so much about the destination.
Thank you for joining me and well done for completing this meditation series.
